I come home in the morning light
My mother says, “When you gonna live your life right?”
Oh, mother dear, we’re not the fortunate ones
And girls, they wanna have fun
Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest of the world
I want to be the one to walk in the sun
Oh girls they want to have fun
Sheer is one of the hottest trends for Spring Summer 2014. I get quite perplexed on how to wear it as a daily wear. Unless you are a celebrity or a socialite who hobnobs quite regularly in various soirees , wearing this trend could be a little tricky. So fellow women folk out there, let your creative juices flow and see how you could team it with various bralets, nude shorts or colorful pop up elements .
The bushy browed young ex-Victoria secret model Miranda Kerr was a heavenly delight walking on the ramp for Stella McCartney at the Paris Fashion week SS 2014.
The intricate detailing , fluid silhouette and the sheer fabric – it all teamed up to one expression – HOT.
Mulberry showcased the surreal pastel trend mixed with sheers in stripes. It called for a visual delight in its own way, the floaty drapes oozing sex appeal in a very demure way.
Sheer is having a major moment on the red carpet. Whether it is a gown with a backless vibe or a sheer panel around the cleavage, the trend is still here to stay. Beyoncé also showed off the trend, in a sexy white floral Michael Costello backless ensemble. If you have it, you flaunt it – Well this seemed to be the theme of this gorgeous white dress.
If there is anything to do with embellishments and intricacy of the detailing in the western Fashion world, Elie Saab just knows which buttons to press it right. This ethereal coral pink sheer dress with floral embellishment is but just one of the examples.
And in the Indian fashion world, Manish Malhotra would be the undisputed King of the sheer trend. Recently showcased at the Lakme Fashion week, this blush pink floral work lehenga translated the sheer trend in Indian wear aptly. Teamed with a very chic blouson , this ensemble could be easily carried from day to-night by changing the accessories.
Teamed with the solid background of mocha-cinnamon fabric, this lehenga by Manish Malhotra takes the Indian wear to a different level. Teamed with a peter pan collared halter blouse , it makes a chic mix for a contemporary Indian wear.
Deepika Padukone has evolved in both her acting and styling skill sets eventually. She has given some knocking public appearances in the recent times and sheer has been her way to go. Of course all will remember her famous gold gown from the recent Film Award functions but I loved this more, the green sheer gown from Dolce and Gabbana.
She is stylish and very individualistic, maybe that’s why she managed to grab my eye balls. She is experimental in her looks and has a very boho chic vibe to her dressing. So to see Monica Dogra in this stunning sheer black gown by Veda Raheja was an absolute delight to my stylist eye .
And while we are talking of trends, we can’t miss past Ms.Sonam Kapoor for her sartorial sense. Trust her to try off beat styles and carry them with such oomph. This particular Tarun Tahiliani ensemble took the Indian fashion world by storm. Sheer black blouse with dhoti styled saree – no one but Sonam Kapoor can do justice to this piece.
While I have tried putting up the looks that caught my eye across the Fashion weeks and celebrities, here are some style tips that you could use to wear the Sheer trend.
- Invest in a sheer ivory / black blouson top. You could team it with maxi skirts, pencil skirts, colorful shorts or wide legged pants.
- Team lace tops with sheer skirts or use sheer as a panel in skirts.
- Sheer blouses can be worn well with chic chiffon sarees. Floral prints from Garden Vareli or abstracts from Satya paul or even a street find 🙂
- Sheer palazzo are a great way to amp up your style quotient. When in doubt wear a pair of nude boyfriend shorts inside.
- Sheer backs , sheer cleavage , sheer thigh slits are classy ways to add a dash of sex appeal to your ensemble.
